Jakub Dvorský, founder of Amanita Design, was once asked what is the meaning of the title “Botanicula”. He admitted that there’s none – they simply wanted to create a word which would only point towards their game when typed into a search engine. They’ve succeeded not only with the titles: it’s impossible to mistake the Czech studio’s games with anything else! These adventure games are not only charming and pretty, but also very well designed. Their simplicity and clarity encourage experimentation and ease the learning process of the logic of their virtual worlds. Jakub Dvorský himself will visit Katowice as Amanita’s ambassador, in search of the Black Horse of Video Games. He will bring with him a couple of games he designed and worked on: his student debut “Samorost”, the cult classic “Machinarium” and the aforementioned “Botanicula” by Jaromír Plachý, in addition to Jan Svěrák’s film “Kooky”. We cordially invite everyone to not only see these Czech darlings, but to play them as well!
