A talented musician, remorseless romantic, womanizer, alcoholic and junkie. The film includes all of these different faces of Charles Parker, the genius American saxophone player. Clint Eastwood focuses on the last years of Parker’s life, when he destructively rushed himself to an early death. In Eastwood’s lens, the father of bebop is a man of contradictions, constantly struggling with his demons. Jazz was his destiny, but also his road to perdition.
