Golem
POL 1979 88' DIRECTED BY: Piotr Szulkin SCREENPLAY BY: Piotr Szulkin, Tadeusz Sobolewski PRODUCED BY: Zespół Filmowy Perspektywa
Piotr Szulkin’s debut, inspired by the Jewish legend of an artificial man and Gustav Meyrink’s novel. Both the action and Szulkin’s attention are focused on Pernat – the result of a medical experiment, who at all costs tries to solve the puzzle of his origin. Szulkin’s “Golem” speaks on the mystery of identity and the growing revolt in a post-apocalyptic world, where individuals – degenerates in the eyes of the powerful – have a chance to live a second life. Whether for better or worse is another question.
