ŚNIALNIA 2.0
A meeting with FURIA and Małgorzata Borowska
Spectacles of the imagination clothed in sound. A formal experiment blending black metal, theatre and apocalyptic metaphor. Synesthesia. FURIA enters Katowice’s Śnialnia studio and records one of the most extraordinary albums in their discography. Wyspiański’s afterimages intertwine here with the spirits of Piastowska 1 and the group Oneiron. The music was recorded on 3 November 2019 in the painting studio of Urszula Broll and Andrzej Urbanowicz near Katowice’s Spodek. The album features guests associated with, among others, the National Old Theatre in Kraków and a miners’ orchestra.
During Ars, we invite you to a unique screening at the cinema and a meet-the-makers session. We will be joined by members of the band FURIA and Małgorzata Borowska – a visual artist who has been associated for years with the legendary studio at 1 Piastowska Street in Katowice, and president of the Bellmer Society, an association whose mission is to promote art – in particular the work of Hans Bellmer, Andrzej Urbanowicz, Urszula Broll and the Oneiron group. The event will be hosted by Rafał Księżyk – journalist, editor, music critic, and author of the books “Dzika rzecz”, “Śnialnia. Śląski underground” and “Fala. Rok 1984 i polski postpunk”.
