Evening falls. A stuffy flat will be the stage for events bordering on séance. In claustrophobic darkness, a family prepares for a party during which they’ll present sketches and songs, and the birthday girl will order them to fulfill her whims. Pixelated inserts from VHS diaries create a feeling of unrealness, a strong longing for something gone; perhaps for family members who left us? “So long, enthusiasm” is a film debut with disturbed chronology – a hypnotizing, formal masterpiece which breaks the mind and evokes Carlos Saura’s “Cría Cuervos”.
