Armenia between war and peace. A young girl travels through a country torn by conflict under the care of a soldier named Atom. Christine Haroutounian’s feature debut unfolds like fragments of a feverish dream: through scenes steeped in the mythology of war, nation, family and religion, we reach the mystical and trance-like depths of local rituals and incantations. Formally highly original, the film makes use of out-of-focus effects, pushing the image to the limits of visual and semantic abstraction.
